​Currently, 17 tortoises are in temporary accommodation, with 23 more arriving this year.

They need a safe, permanent home — the eco-friendly Tortoise House, built from natural straw bales, warm, well-insulated, and designed for visitors to see the tortoises’ natural behaviours.

Our tortoises come from many backgrounds — rehomed pets, confiscations at airports, and transfers from other zoos. Among them are the critically endangered Radiated Tortoises, Leopard Tortoises, and Hermann’s Tortoises.

The Tortoise House will cost £47,000.
We’ve already raised £14,000, and once we reach £28,000, we can order the timber structure and begin construction.
